sustainability jobs/networking?

topic posted Wed, January 30, 2008 - 1:33 PM by  Steffi
I recently graduated with a BA in Sustainable Community Development. I moved to Portland with the hope that I will find work doing something that helps me grow as a person and, more importantly, helps make the world a better place. I am interested in community building, green building, environmental and conservation issues, and all things sustainable. However, I have not yet been able to find gainful employment in this field. I would like to find some community groups, volunteer and job opportunities. Any ideas, suggestions, connections?
Thanks!

On the networking tip, I recommend checking out www.EQ.TV, and EQ Connect; a social networking site that supports a growing community of people who are passionate about ecological and economic sustainability (and music!). It is a grassroots organization based out of Ashland, OR working for a rapid transition to a sustainable world.

    Members include:
    • Ecologically-oriented businesses and organizations, their patrons and members.
    • Environmentally aware artists, entertainers and their fans.
    • Specialists dedicated to sustainability—engineers, architects, ecologists, etc.
    • Proactive cultural innovators, trend-setters and ground-breakers of the sustainability movement.
    • Anyone who cares about sustainability and/or has a passion for music.

Have a look for yourself, let us know what you think.
Good luck in your job search...

    Be the change!
